At what stage do I need to pay a deposit to secure the booking, and when would the final payment be due?
To confirm a booking, you would need to pay the specified deposit using the online booking system. The remaining balance is due for payment 6 weeks before arrival if booked through Sykes and 10 weeks before if it's a Hoseasons booking. Payment can be made by debit or credit card.
Will someone meet me at the property on the takeover day to hand over the keys?
If the owner lives locally, they may meet you at the property. Generally, the keys to the home will be left in a key safe. For security, codes etc won't be released until payment for the booking has been made in full.
Do I need to pay a security deposit against damages to the property we hire?
This depends very much on the property owners. If it's required, the property description will highlight the amount, which is usually taken with the balance payment. In the event of no damage being made to the property, the deposit is usually refunded back to your payment method within 2 weeks of your departure.
How early can we gain access to the holiday home and what time do we need to vacate the holiday home on the final day of the holiday?
This varies with each property. Generally, you can arrive anytime from 5pm where access to the home is by key safe. In other cases, you would need to call the owner should you be arriving late. Full contact details and instructions for late arrivals will be shown on your confirmation. You generally need to vacate the property around 9am on your last day, so that cleaners have time to prepare it for the next visitors.
Do we need to bring crockery, cutlery, tea towels and bath towels?
All crockery and cutlery is provided. The individual property descriptions will tell you if bath towels etc are provided. If it's not mentioned, assume you should bring your own.
Where can I read reviews of your properties by people who have stayed there?
Each individual property will have reports from previous customers. You can also find general reputational reports about Hoseasons and Sykes Cottages on Tripadvisor.
Are any of the properties dog friendly?
Many of the properties are dog friendly. Each individual property description will state if you can take your pet(s). To narrow the search, click the "pets allowed" box to "essential" when using the search tool on each page.
Will there be space to park my car?
This will depend on the actual property and it's location. Read the property description for more information.
What are the start days and minimum stay
Generally, you can book a stay starting on a Monday, Tuesday, Friday or Saturday. Property owners like to have a minimum stay of 3 nights, though some may allow less nights out of school holidays. You can check this by entering your preferred dates once you find a suitable property.
